Kerouac was a Sifter.
Reading "Satori in Paris" at the moment, a nice thin tome perfect for wet mornings on the No. 14 bus (which, while I'm at it, is already full by the time it reaches Roseneath. I feel a missive to Stagecoach coming on...)
Anyway, Jack in his 40's hits France to research his surname, and ends up boozing and chasing The Ladies.
Turn the book over and you're confronted with the quote "I am a great natural bed mate and nice guy". I know a few local sifters that could get away with that statement... ;-)
